• New social media workshop developed for Surrey businesses

Surrey Young Business of the Year finalist, Padua Communications (www.paduacomms.co.uk) is urging local businesses to clean up their external communications to take advantage of new business opportunities online. The company which has managed online campaigns for small and large businesses, including match.com, Motorola and Synovate Retail Performance, has developed a new social media and content workshop for local businesses that will help them stay on track with their marketing efforts in the digital world.

Nicky Rudd, managing director of Padua Communications and an ex-teacher, says: "Social media is changing the face of business but it is difficult to measure what the ROI is for using it. We've developed this workshop in response to comments from local businesses about how they use social media and what they should be including in tweets and updates. Any business thinking of or already using social media as a communications platform can come on the course, which has been designed so that at the end of the session, each attendee will have a bespoke calendar of company updates to make social media easier to implement and a serious business tool in the tough economic climate."

Run in small groups and jargon-free, the workshop has been developed to help business owners and marketing managers focus on key messages while learning some basics of social media, understand and create a content calendar for their company with expert tuition, while incorporating social marketing with the rest of the company's marketing plan.

Nicky adds: "This will definitely not be like going back to school! As a teacher, I always found that if students were enjoying what they were learning about, it became second nature. These workshops will be informal and fun - but with a serious business lesson to be learnt."

The workshop is being held at the Forsythe Business Centre, Walton on Thames, KT12 2TD from 2-4.30pm on the 11th of October 2011 and the 22nd of November and costs £150. To book on the workshop, businesses should ring 07545 253293 or email training@paduacomms.co.uk
