Business Resources Group warns small businesses "network or fail"
-Founder and self-confessed serial networker advises on being proactive during downturn
Mike Segall, founder of The Business Resources Group, and a leading expert on networking warns businesses of the need to network, or risk failure during the economic downturn.
Segall stresses the importance of 'networking fitness for 2009', and regularly offers companies his tips on how to successfully network to improve the 'life blood' of business. These tips include:
How to make money from networking
Implementing a successful networking strategy
Learning the secrets of outstanding networkers
The Business Resources Group was launched at the end of 2007, in a bid to introduce a new type of networking to UK business. It is the first group of its kind that proactively markets its members, and works with its currently 130-strong membership providing high level meeting platforms and helping them to be networking fit.
Segall commented: "It's no coincidence that in 2009 everyone is talking about networking. And, I firmly believe that this will be the single most important way of winning and retaining business this year.
"With job losses set to remain high and traditional employment options looking limited, many are likely to turn to self employment and starting their own business in the year ahead.
"For those setting up a new business, or trying to maintain the cash flow of an existing company, networking will be key during these difficult economic times. Business owners and managers who lack pro-activity will lose out. If you don't grasp the opportunity, then others will - and they will win the business you were looking for."
Jeremy Cass, managing director at PC Heart Limited (a Business Resources Group member), added: "I chose to join The Business Resources Group, because I saw the different approach the organisation was taking to networking.
"In order to successfully grow in the difficult period ahead, it will be down to business leaders to get on the networking bandwagon, and to do this as effectively and efficiently as possible."
The Business Resources Group provides a platform to network at its monthly meetings. The organisation also offers consultancy to its members - covering skills sets ranging from sales to marketing, HR to business process and implementation. With a focus on vertical networking, The Business Resources Group enables smaller businesses to network with larger companies.
