Urbano - championing diversity in business from the very beginning

Since Urbano began in 2011, we have had a proud track record of championing opportunities for women, especially in historically male dominated industries and sectors, such as construction, engineering and technology. Around 50% of an Urbano Build event audience, for instance, are female, many running their own companies, or with senior positions at larger companies.

Our roster of monthly speakers have included many leading and inspiring women from across different industries - from Finance and Retail, Technology & Worksplace Wellbeing to Engineering and Entrepreneurship.

To develop deeper connections between women in SMEs and larger companies, we added a new community to Urbano for 2018: UWACTE (Urbano Women In Architecture, Construction, Technology & Engineering) where women in Urbano member firms can develop and enhance their connections across our network.

This Urbano Women In Business will bring together women woeking at Urbano companies across all our communities and sectors - and at all stages of their career - from those leading at Board level through to those starting out.

This lunch is hosted by iconic British food company, Hotel Chocolat, at their Covent Garden event space, housed in vaults beneath their shop in Monmouth Street. for fans of fine chocolate and tasty networking.

Attendees will be treated to 'cocoa-centric canapes' and of course lots of chocolates to sample, washed down with a glass of prosecco and wine. Attendees will also have a chance to gain insight into the chocolate making process.

During the event you will have the chance to take a tour of the on-site chocolate machinery and gain insight into the chocolate making process. Their knowledgeable staff will provide an insight into the world of Hotel Chocolat with freshly roasted cocoa beans, nibs and cocoa butter for our guests to interact with.

Urbano is an independent business networking community that grew out of Shoreditch, London, from the early 2000's and helps our membership of mainly small, medium and micro companies - and those that run and work for them - to connect, engage, share, learn, and together develop new business opportunities.

Urbano consists of different Communities: Build, Create, Finance, Host, Tech, UWACTE (Urbano Women In Architecture, Construction, Technology & Engineering), Work & Zero Carbon. Like the UK economy, the majority of our member companies work in the Build community sectors, but we are well represented with members in the other sectors, too.
