The Rising Network is proud to launch Women Rising in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) - a series of industry-focused discussions and interactive mentoring events, spotlighting on the progression of women in STEM.

The launch of this new series within the Rising Network will take place across the month of March in recognition of International Women's Day on 8th March. The aim of the series is to provide mentoring support to women, including aspiring students right through to those who have a career in industry, with access to women of influence who have broken barriers and industry professionals who are driving innovation and diversity.

Women Rising in STEM provides the opportunity to network and learn with industry experts who have been successful in navigating their career, gaining insight into how they overcame obstacles. Through this series, the Rising Network aims to work in collaboration with industry to encourage women, to not only choose to enter industry where their talents make a massive difference, but to remain in industry, to address the growing skills gap and to increase the representation of women in STEM.

In this session hear lighting talks by:

Talk 1: Turn and Face the Change - Jacqui Hall, Head of Early Careers, AstraZeneca

Significant change is something that many of us dread, and either fear (or avoid altogether). Yet I have found that some of the most positive changes in my career have come through a willingness to embrace significant change, as well as the new opportunities that come with it. In my talk, I will describe how change has played a significant role in my life, and my career in Life Sciences, outlining the challenges that change has brought and some of the things that I have found useful in dealing with it.

Talk 2: From Woman in Tech to Engineer in HR - Jo Stansfield, Global Lead - Diversity and Inclusion, AVEVA

Talk 3: Speaker to be announced soon!

Having built a career making software for engineering, Jo was no stranger to being one of few women in her workplace. But over time, and as she progressed, she found fewer and fewer female peers around her. This simple observation grew to nagging and persistent curiosity: Where is everyone?

In this session, Jo will share with you her journey as a Woman in Tech and her transition to become an Engineer in HR.

We hope you can join us for a night of inspiration and hear from speakers on how they will #PayItForward to create a more inclusive world.
