We are excited to launch The NewbyCore Breakfast Club in Edinburgh. The first event will take place on Tuesday 1st May 2018, then on the first Tuesday of the month thereafter.

The aim of our monthly business Breakfast Club is to bring together the best speakers from across the country in a fun and informal environment, whilst at the same time allowing you time to network with like-minded professionals and creatives. You will be treated to a delicious light breakfast and refreshments, and all our events will feature additional free 'extras' such as massages, hair/beard trims and manicures from local businesses as well as our wide range of NewbyCore Lifestyle Club* partners.

We are thrilled to welcome Iain Logan, Group Financial Controller of Omega Diagnostics and Gavin Neate of NeateBox as our guest speakers. With thanks to Barbarossa Barber and Reset Corporate Massage for supporting our first event.

Iain Logan - Group Financial Controller, Omega Diagnostics

Iain qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2002 with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Edinburgh.

He then worked at Murray International Holdings Limited in the head office finance team performing a variety of financial accounting roles. He then moved to Murray Capital Limited, the investment management accompany of Murray International Holdings Limited, gaining experience in all aspects of acquisitions, disposals and investment portfolio company analysis and management.

Iain joined Omega Diagnostics Group PLC in November 2010 as Group Financial Controller and his current role primarily covers responsibility for the financial reporting of the Group and the management of the Group finance team.

"I will talk about my career journey to date, role models who I have learned from, the importance of knowing yourself, how to build experience across all areas and the external reporting requirements and responsibilities when working for a PLC company."

Omega's mission is improve human health and well being through innovative diagnostic tests and global partnerships. Omega is focused on selling a wide range of specialist products, primarily in the immunoassay, in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) market within three segments: Allergy and Autoimmune, Food Intolerance and Infectious Disease.

Gavin Neate - CEO, NeateBox

After serving with The RAF, Gavin began an 18-year career with Guide Dogs for the Blind. His comprehensive knowledge of visual impairment and routine experience of poorly installed pedestrian crossings led him to design a unique system by which any person living with reduced mobility, could safely and automatically operate a pedestrian crossing using their own smart technology. The company has installed the system in various locations, recently throughout the entire town of Largs and Locharbriggs in Scotland and is receiving increasing interest from across the UK for further installations. This success has led to a range of smart solutions based on the challenges disabled people face every day and his latest development, "Welcome", provides a smart platform which performs the simplest and most important of tasks, the improvement of human to human interaction between people with disability and those without. Gavin's work is of great social importance as it has the potential to address many of the issues society will experience as our aged and disabled population increases.

In his talk, Gavin will share his story about how he became a social entrepreneur and the lessons he has learned along the way. A major focus will be on the importance of networking and relationship building not only for sales but also to build and grow the business.
