MUMS MEAN BUSINESS - NETWORKING MUMMIES EXPANDS TO WARWICKSHIRE
Networking Mummies is an idea put together by two mummies Joanne Dewberry, founder of www.charliemoos.co.uk specialising in handmade fabric party bags and Laura Morris, founder of www.rentabuggy.co.uk who saw a niche in the market for renting out pushchairs, one wet Monday morning at a local toddler group.
Co-Founder Laura Morris, who is single mum to Ashleigh who is 3 years old, has recently moved to Warwickshire and will be heading up the Networking Mummies Warwickshire branch. She quotes 'I am really excited that not only are we expanding but it is a great opportunity to work with other local mums who run their own business and find it hard to balance work and home life'.
After a very successful first gathering of other entrepreneurial mummies in Dorset the girls were spurred on that this group was just what they had been looking for. From an initial idea back in February 2009 the group has gone from strength to strength and now consists of over 300 parents in business. They also have a sub-branch in bordering Hampshire.
The group of like-minded business women who also happen to be mothers, recognise the power of word of mouth endorsement, its prevalence amongst the parenting community and the importance of tapping into it to increase sales. By joining forces and sharing skills, knowledge and contacts, they hope to drive business success for all there members. There membership is FREE and they hold two FREE events a month. One based around the kids and one with a guest speaker. They also do a further 10 larger events including Workshops and Speed Networking at an affordable cost. Networking Mummies really does have something with everyone.
'Networking Mummies has opened up a whole new area of marketing opportunities for me through contacting members with like-minded businesses, but most importantly it has provided a support network of women who are also facing the challenge of bringing up children along with striving to succeed in business - there's also ample opportunity to go out and socialise with the group as well'
Heather Smith from Musical Steps (Bournemouth and Christchurch)
Their first informal Coffee Morning event is going to be held at Funky Monkeys, Cape Road, Warwick on Monday the 14st June from 10.30am - 12.30pm. The cost is FREE; you just have to pay any admission if bringing any children. Everyone is welcome!
If you have any further questions then please email Laura Morris on nmwarks@hotmail.co.uk. There website is currently being rebuilt for a sleeker design but in the meantime more information can be found at www.networkingmummiesdorset.co.uk
