Urbano Build is a programme of regular networking events in London aimed at architects, developers, property investors, designers, interior designers and other professionals associated with the built environment sector to make connections, gather information, create associations and find new business opportunities.

Urbano Build breakfast events are stripped down conferences, exploring interesting themes and built around great speakers, where the the focus is on networking and creating connections and opportunities. You always meet a diverse range of businesses and their representatives in a lively session of informal but facilitated networking.

Our Urbano Build speaker programme has a proud track record of exploring and championing issues affecting the sector, often before they become mainstream, and often from a stand-point of finding opportunities for smaller firms to work with larger ones as we feel both benefit. This includes diversity, sustainability, new technologies and their usage, such as BIM and VR, accessibility, environmental, BREAAM, supply chain transparency, site safety, workplace and wellbeing, design, modern materials, M2M/IOT and crowdfunding.

Previous speakers at Urbano Build have included RIBA's current and previous Presidents - Jane Duncan and Stephen Hodder, Kevin McCloud (Grand Designs), George Clarke (Restoration Man), Marc Vlessing (Pocket Living), Wayne Hemingway, Loyd Grossman, David Hancock (Government Lead on Construction), senior figures in organisations like CEBR, BRE and CABE, and from leading UK construction companies such as Arup, Laing O'Rourke, Mace Group, and David Philp and Mark Bew (BIM Team at the Cabinet Office).

One of our latest Build event speakers was Sadie Morgan, co-founder of dRMM on her ambitions for the HS2 Design Panel and encouraging more women into the sector. Happily, and as is typical of all our Urbano Build events, around 50% of the audience was female.

Urbano Build networking events are informal, with our speaker doing around 40 minutes at 8.40am, followed by a Q&A, and plenty of time for networking and coffee drinking. Our speakers usually stay to network as they find the audience to be knowledgeable and enjoyable company!

Jackie Sadek, the UK regeneration specialist, on Urbano: "I have a lot of time for Urbano. They have a philosophy of "exchanging value" that I find rather empowering. Urbano Network is a facilitating vehicle, brokering opportunities for smaller companies to get involved, both with each other, and with larger partners. They champion quality suppliers, especially in areas such as design and new technologies. And their events are brilliant."

Urbano Network

www.urbanonetwork.co.uk

Urbano is an independent business networking community that grew out of Shoreditch, London, from the early 2000's and helps our membership of mainly small, medium and micro companies - and those that run and work for them - to connect, engage, share, learn, and together develop new business opportunities.

Urbano consists of different Communities: Build, Create, Finance, Host, Tech, UWACTE (Urbano Women In Architecture, Construction, Technology & Engineering), Work & Zero Carbon. Like the UK economy, the majority of our member companies work in the Build community sectors, but we are well represented with members in the other sectors, too.

We are also pro-active, making introductions outside of events between members where we see value. We also offer a range of member services, including Tenders & Opportunities Notices.
