What is your business called?

Mag's Bookkeeping & Office Management Solutions

Briefly describe what your business does?

We offer bookkeeping and office support from one (wo)man band to large limited company, from doing the books to helping with day to day paper work. We also look at other technologies/ software to ensure the best efficiency is met for the business.

Which networking group(s) do you attend?

I attend BNI, She Network, and other Local Area Networks (Chamber of Commerce, Flintshire business week, simply go Networking…)

How often do you attend networking events?

My main network is through BNI, we meet every Friday morning in Rhyl for breakfast at 7.00 am then I can start my working day. I go to She Network Quarterly, the others as and when they are convenient (their time is important so it doesn’t affect my working hours too much) or close by.

How much of your business is directly or indirectly derived from attending business networking events?

I found that 40% of my business is derived directly from Networking, another 20% is linked indirectly as people contacted because someone they know met me during a networking event.

What format of networking event do you most enjoy?

I enjoy BNI the most as it is very well organised, some have the same kind of structure so they are ok too. Others, you don’t really get a chance to introduce yourself to the whole room it becomes more difficult to network especially if they are many people in the room. The 60 seconds you get to introduce your business are the most important part of the whole networking event.

What do you feel you gain from attending networking events?

I meet new people, share experience, compare stories, and hear about how others are doing. I work from home most of the time, it is nice to meet people and be able to talk.

What is your top networking tip?

Don’t be scared: get yourself noticed. It is very hard sometimes to go to someone and introduce yourself and get their attention. Have a memory hook ready. When someone ask you what you do use it. You will have their full attention for an extra 30 seconds and they might remember you.
